This client wanted to completely renovate the outdoor living space to match the mid-century modern home. The vision was to create low maintenance landscape beds with a mixture of walkways connecting the front and backyard living spaces.

This client wanted to completely renovate the outdoor living space to match the mid-century modern home. The vision was to create low maintenance landscape beds with a mixture of walkways connecting the front and backyard living spaces.
In the front yard we added concrete steppers and decomposed granite walkways with stone edging. The landscaping was a mixture of native grasses and perennial plants. These will thrive in the Kansas City environment with very little watering and maintenance required.

In the backyard we connected the driveway to the back patio with another decomposed granite (DG) walkway. The back patio was a mixture of large concrete slabs with DG between the joints. The steps go up to an elevated patio off the living room area. The landscaping in the back includes a row of boxwoods along with more native grasses and perennial flowers. In time these will fill in to create a beautiful outdoor space.
The final element was the horizontal cedar privacy fence. The goal with this fence was to finish the mid century look but also to provide privacy from the adjacent homes.
