Backyard Transformation: Custom Outdoor Fireplace, Kitchen, and Covered Patio Build

Creating a true outdoor living retreat starts with thoughtful design, premium materials, and expert craftsmanship. For this project, our team transformed an ordinary backyard patio into a fully customized space featuring a StoneAge Manufacturing Contractor Series Fireplace, a complete Blaze outdoor kitchen, cedar-wrapped structural elements, skylights, and beautiful stonework throughout. The finished result is a warm, inviting, and functional space perfect for year-round enjoyment.

The fireplace features:

• StoneAge Manufacturing Contractor Series firebox

• Full CMU block structure

• Black Hills Rustic Dimensional Thin Veneer on all exposed surfaces

• Custom wood-storage box with a concrete block interior

• Taj Mahal stone top for a premium, polished finish (client upgrade)

This fire feature not only anchors the space visually but also serves as a cozy gathering spot for cool evenings outdoors.

The kitchen includes:

• Blaze 32 inch Grill

• Blaze Side Burner

• Blaze Door and Drawer Combo

• Blaze Trash Pullout

• Electrical installation for grill ignition and lighting

• Gas line hookups for both grill and side burner

• Taj Mahal countertop upgrade for a luxurious, natural-stone finish

Built-in storage, clean lines, and premium appliances make this outdoor kitchen both beautiful and highly functional.

Knee walls were built with CMU block and wrapped in the same Black Hills Rustic Dimensional Thin Veneer to maintain a cohesive look across the space. These low walls define the patio, add extra seating, and tie together the fireplace and kitchen elements.

The tops were upgraded from granite to Indian Limestone for a soft, natural, timeless look that complements the overall stone palette.

• 2×10 framing and all structural hangers

• Cedar-wrapped beams and posts for a warm, rustic look

• Tongue-and-groove pine ceiling

• Recessed can lighting

• Dual ceiling fans

• TV installation on the exterior wall

• Cedar privacy screen wall

• Modified Bitumen roofing and metal flashing

• Gutter installation for proper drainage

• Two Velux fixed skylights to bring natural light into the covered space

The combination of wood, stone, lighting, and open-air comfort makes this area perfect for cooking, relaxing, and entertaining.

To finish the project, we installed Techo Bloc Aberdeen Klean Bloc pavers for a clean, durable walkway that leads seamlessly to the new living area. We also added new cedar fencing, a custom cedar gate, and metal post supports to improve privacy and enhance the overall look of the backyard.
